Jazz drop Game 1 to Lakers, 104-99

The Utah Jazz dropped Game 1 to the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 104-99 Sunday afternoon at the Staples Center. The Jazz trailed by as many as 14 but rallied to take the lead late in the fourth quarter. Kobe Bryant, who led all scorers with 31 points, scored the last 10 points of the game to lead the Lakers to victory. Pau Gasol also had 25. Deron Williams led the Jazz with 24.

As Wesley Matthews said after the game, you can't really take moral victories, you want the real thing. I was impressed that the Jazz took the lead, but they need to finish the job next time. The Lakers are a really good team, but they are beatable, you just have to stay focused throughout. Carlos Boozer said as much after the game, saying the team needs to be tough throughout. Game 2 tomorrow night is a really big one, almost a must-win for the Jazz if they want to have a realistic chance of winning the series.

Here's the other scores from the last few days:
Saturday:
Game 1 -- (1) Cleveland 101, (4) Boston 93 (Cavaliers lead series 1-0)
Sunday:
Game 7 (First Round) -- (3) Atlanta 95, (6) Milwaukee 74 (Hawks win series 4-3)

And the schedule for today and tomorrow:
Tonight:
Game 2 -- In progress -- (4) Boston 80, (1) Cleveland 60, 0:51 left in 3rd quarter (TNT, Cavaliers lead series 1-0)
Game 1 -- (7) San Antonio at (3) Phoenix, 8:30 p.m. MT (TNT)
Tomorrow:
Game 1 -- (3) Atlanta at (2) Orlando, 6 p.m. MT (TNT)
Game 2 -- (5) Utah at (1) LA Lakers, 8:30 p.m. MT (TNT)

Sorry, I don't think I'll have time for an extended Second Round Preview. As for the only series I've yet to predict I'll say Magic over Hawks 4-2.
