Giants host Padres in big series 5/10/2010

Here's the Baseball Weekdays Preview 5/10/2010:

Most intriguing series: San Diego Padres (19-12) at San Francisco Giants (18-12) Tuesday through Thursday. It's a series for first place in the NL West that most people wouldn't have predicted would have such high stakes before the season started. I'm pretty excited for it and I think the Giants will take two of three at home. Barry Zito goes in the opener tomorrow night and I think he'll keep rolling.

Another intriguing series: In another similarly high stakes series that wouldn't have been predicted the Oakland Athletics (17-15) visit the Texas Rangers (18-14) Tuesday through Thursday in a battle for first in the AL West. The A's are riding high following Dallas Braden's perfect game, but I think the Rangers, who are 11-6 at home and have won four in a row overall, will take two of three in this series. Also Philadelphia (19-12) visits Colorado (15-16) in a rematch of last year's NLDS and Tampa Bay (22-9) visits the LA Angels (14-19) in a match-up of my division favorites. And as for the other NL West series it's the Dodgers (14-17) visiting the Diamondbacks (14-18) for three games.

Least intriguing series: Cleveland Indians (11-18) at Kansas City Royals (11-21) Tuesday through Thursday. These two are off to rough starts and aren't going to make the playoffs. I think the Royals will take two of three. Hopefully they will do that and start playing better baseball.
