Baseball Weekend Preview 5/7/2010

Here's the Baseball Weekend Preview 5/7/2010:

Most intriguing series: Tampa Bay Rays (21-7) at Oakland Athletics (15-14). The Rays continue their west coast trip with a visit to the AL West leaders. The Athletics can make a statement about potential staying power by winning this series but I think the Rays are too good and take two of three.

Another intriguing series: New York Yankees (19-8) at Boston Red Sox (15-14) from Fenway Park this weekend. The Red Sox could go a long way in gaining momentum for their series by winning this series against their hated rival. I'll say Boston continues to play well and takes two of three.

Least intriguing series: St. Louis Cardinals (18-11) at Pittsburgh Pirates (13-15). This just looks like a classic mismatch even if the Pirates are coming off three straight wins over the Chicago Cubs (13-16). I think the Cardinals sweep, but it will be interesting to see if the Bucs can continue their momentum.

San Francisco Giants (17-10) Weekend Preview: The Giants will be at Citi Field for three games against the New York Mets (15-13). The Giants are playing really well and the Mets have cooled off a bit since their hot streak, so I'll take the Giants two out of three, which would make for an excellent road trip. The bottom of the rotation is starting off the series, but I think they'll have enough to win the series with Lincecum going in the finale on Sunday. The Giants have a big home series with second place San Diego (17-11) coming up next week. The Padres are in Houston (9-19) this weekend. In other NL West action this weekend the Rockies (14-14) visit the Dodgers (12-16) and the Brewers (12-16) visit the desert to take on the Diamondbacks (14-15).

  1. Hi Derek,

Hope you did well on finals. I have been following your blog and really enjoy it and have passed it on to others so you probably have more followers than you think. It sure has made sports more interesting to me this year. I was pulling for the Jazz tonight and it was too bad they had to lose this one when they were ahead most of the game. I almost decided not to watch any of the Laker Jazz games after seeing what Dallin and Dane wrote about it on facebook but Trevor had it on so I did watch it.
Tell everyone hi for me tomorrow as I understand everyone is coming for mother's day dinner. Wish we could be there too. Hope to see you soon.

    Love, Aunt Jane
