Flyers win, seal Bruins collapse

The Philadelphia Flyers became the third team in NHL history and the first since 1975 to overcome a 3-0 series deficit tonight by beating the Boston Bruins 4-3 in Game 7 in Boston. The Bruins led the game tonight 3-0. It was an impressive comeback; you don't see stuff like this very often. It's pretty cool, I'm pretty amazed on two levels, that the Flyers were able to come back to win the series, and that the Bruins managed to lose it. It has to be characterized as a collapse for Boston when you blow a 3-0 goal lead in Game 7 on your home ice. Not to mention that the winning Flyers goal came on a power play that resulted from a too many men on the ice penalty in the third period. You simply can't have a penalty like that at that point in the game. But I think it's pretty cool for the Flyers, they definitely showed a lot of resiliency.

The Eastern Conference Finals now features a 7-8 matchup between the Flyers and the 8-seeded Montreal Canadiens who won a Game 7 in Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury was very poor and the Habs built a four goal lead early in the second period that was too much for the Penguins to overcome. The Western Conference Finals is quite the opposite with all chalk, it's the top-seed San Jose Sharks against the two-seed Chicago Blackhawks. My prediction is that it will be Sharks-Flyers in the Stanley Cup Finals with the Sharks taking home the Cup.
