Celtics top Magic in Game 1

The (4) Boston Celtics beat the (2) Orlando Magic 92-88 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals this afternoon. Ray Allen had 25, Paul Pierce had 22 and Rasheed Wallace had 13 off the bench for the Celtics. Vince Carter had 23 for the Magic. Pierce looked really sharp during a big second half run for the Celtics and hit a number of jump shots. The Celtics look like they're going on to big things. I was going to pick the Magic to win this series in 7 games, but after today I'm going with Celtics in six.

The Western Conference Finals get under way tomorrow night with Game 1 between the (3)Suns and the (1) Lakers in Los Angeles at 7 p.m. MT. The game will be televised on TNT. I'll take the Lakers in six in this one. I really want the Suns to win, but I think the Lakers just have too much depth and Kobe Bryant will likely help them find a way to win this series. The Suns are a solid team that is playing well, though, and should make this an interesting series. Game 2 of the Magic and Celtics is Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. MT on ESPN and espn3.com.
